THE GREAT WALL

The Great Wall: one of the most famous and fascinating places in China. My highly-anticipated trip to the Wall was planned as a one-day hiking tour from the watchtower of Jiankou (on a mostly non-renovated portion) to the popular spot of Mutianyu. Unfortunately, the fog was so thick as I arrived in Jiankou that I couldn’t see the landscape beyond the side of the watchtower. Although it was a huge disappointment, it lent to the Wall a mysterious and ghostly atmosphere, best captured in black-and-white. Later on, as the fog lifted, I managed one nice shot from Mutianyu, even catching some lively scenes on the Wall itself.
