MARRAKESH

I really enjoyed strolling through the Medina quarter in Marrakesh. It actually offers very diverse experiences : on the one hand, the tumult of the Jemaa el-Fnaa square with its snake charmers and street food stalls springing up in the late afternoon. On the other hand, the quiet back alleys of different shades of ochre, where the silhouettes of picturesque minarets sometimes pop up. To catch a nice view over the Medina I first went to the rooftop terrace of the Photography Museum, then to the top of the El-Badi Palace which is also a great spot to observe the storks nesting on the rooftops.
Marrakesh has much to offer in terms of sights: the Ben Youssef Madrasa with its beautiful courtyard and its lace-like ornamented walls, the Bahia Palace with its beautiful bright walls and ceilings, and the Koutoubia Mosque with its golden brown minaret standing out against the dark blue sky at sunset.
Finally there are also below a few photos of the Majorelle Gardens, Yves Saint-Laurent’s blue villa surrounded by beautiful palm trees. The highlight for me was to catch the turtle couple sunbathing and the frog resting between rose petals in the shadow of a palm tree.
