Although Puno is more famous for beeing the starting point for excursions on Lake Titicaca than for itself, it offers many opportunities to capture scenes of everyday Peruvian life (market scenes, street vendors…). Contrasting with this urban atmosphere, Lake Titicaca is like a giant sleepy pond surrounded by snow-capped Andean mountains and strewed with windswept reeds. On the Lake, while the Uros Islands are very photogenic thanks to their colorful boats and dwellings made of totora, Taquile Island gives more the feeling of an isolated rock which has succeeded in preserving a unique culture, living off agriculture, fishing and tourism.
