KOLMANNSKUPPE

A few kilometers away from Lüderitz, in the middle of the desert, Kolmanskuppe was founded by German colonists in the early 20th Century because of its strategic position next to diamond mines. The fantastic story of this small though opulent town only lasted a few decades before the city was completely abandoned to the desert. Today sand has invaded all the structures (the old shops, the hospital, the mayor’s house…) to give Kolmanskuppe its extraordinary ghostly flair: a dream for photographers.
